Mohammad told a number of stories and made a number of statements that were demonstrably incorrect.
Mohammad instructed his followers that water in quantities greater than 2 pitchers-full can not be defiled. This statement was in response to questions posed by his followers at the well of Buda’ah and elsewhere. While Islamic apologists can (and do) provide many explanations and qualifications to this statement, Mohammad did not provide these explanations and qualifications. Would you be willing to drink water from a well with dead things floating in it? If not, you obviously don’t believe Mohammad was a prophet of the Creator!
Mohammad is quoted in one of the hadith (Sahih Al-Bukhari): "During your sleep, Satan knots three knots at the back of the head of each of you, and he breathes the following words at each knot, 'The night is long, so keep on sleeping,' If that person wakes up and celebrates the praises of Allah, then one knot is undone, and when he performs ablution the second knot is undone, and when he prays, all the knots are undone, and he gets up in the morning lively and gay, otherwise he gets up dull and gloomy." Ask yourself; do you wake up every morning dull and gloomy? If no (even if you are not a practicing Muslim), Mohammad was wrong and was not a prophet!
Assuming they exist, as we believe they do, Satan and his demons are spiritual, not corporeal. They may sometimes be seen by those who are susceptible, but they have no earthly bodies. However, in the hadith of Sahih Al-Bukhari we are told that Mohammad said that, “Satan came in front of me and tried to interrupt my prayer, but Allah gave me an upper hand on him and I choked him”. We believe that this was a made-up story that Mohammad told to awe and intimidate his followers rather than anything with substance to it. There was certainly nothing to confirm this story. Even at the time Mohammad spoke, its very nature made it impossible to either confirm or deny. We have seen how Mohammad dealt with his enemies. Considering all the innocent people Mohammad had killed, one would wonder why he wouldn’t choke Satan till he died. Ask yourself what this story does to reveal the character and integrity of Mohammad. We think it shows that Mohammad was either deceived or a liar.
The Koran (18;86 and 90) and hadith also tell stories about Mohammad’s explanations about the movement of the sun. According to Mohammad the sun sets in a pool or stream of murky, warm or muddy water. He also said that, at night the sun prostrates itself before the throne of Allah and each day it must ask permission of Allah to rise again. This information was supposedly confirmed by another prophet of Allah who had travelled to the “places” where the sun sets and where it rises. Of course, we now know that the sun sets and rises because of the earth’s rotation relative to the sun. There simply is no “place” where the sun rises or sets. Obviously, Mohammad did not understand what the sun was or anything about the solar system. As a 7th century Arab this might have been totally understandable but for a prophet of the Creator, this is undeniably suspicious. Contrast this with the Biblical book of Job where, many centuries earlier, Job had talked about the earth being hung on “nothing”. In Isaiah the prophet talked about the “circle of the earth”. The true prophets of Jehovah didn’t give much instruction about the natural world – that wasn’t their purpose. However, what they did give was much more accurate than the ridiculous explanations of Mohammad with respect to these things.
Mohammad also taught that meteors were “missiles” shot at demons.
Mohammad had no realistic understanding of the human reproductive process. His teachings showed no understanding of the female’s role in the conception of a baby. He said that humans develop from the semen of a man which apparently developed into a clot of blood. There was no mention of the ovum contributed by the female, although he did acknowledge that the woman provides the womb where the child is carried. In short, Mohammad understood reproduction in the manner of the people of his day rather than as an inspired prophet of an all-knowing Creator.
Mohammad taught that Mary, the mother of Jesus was the sister of Moses and Aaron and that she is worshipped by Christians as one of the Holy Trinity. The Old Testament book of Exodus tells of Miriam, the sister of Moses. The New Testament talks about Mary the mother of Jesus. In Hebrew their names can be spelled the same although they are almost always translated differently in most Bibles. The name was a very common one for Hebrews and was used by many people throughout the history of Israel. However, they are not the same person and Mary, the mother of Jesus has never been worshipped at all by knowledgeable Christians.
In Surah 19:7 Mohammad taught that the father of John the Baptist ( Johanan in Hebrew ) was instructed by Allah to name his son John and that nobody had had this name before that time. In fact there were many people named Johanan in the genealogical records in the Old Testament.
The list of Mohammad's errors in fact could be continued but the purpose of this website is not to vilify Mohammad but to show that Mohammad was not the best and final prophet of the all-knowing Creator of the Universe. You might wonder why these mistakes would prove that Mohammad was not a prophet. Because, if the Creator wanted to provide guidance and truth to humanity through the words of a prophet, He would not allow the prophet to make such obvious mistakes. Especially, there would be no mistakes written in the Heavenly original of the Koran. Such mistakes legitimately cast doubts on the assertion by Mohammad that he was simply quoting from the Heavenly Koran written by the Creator. They also call into question the accuracy of all other parts of the so-called prophet’s message. If we are not willing to believe Mohammad when he says that the sun sets in a puddle of dirty water, we should not unquestioningly believe anything else that he said. Islam holds that Mohammad must be believed in all things. This is why we contend that Islam is both incorrect and dangerous. You should seriously consider the facts and make your own decision.
